United Hemispheres magazine chooses Kentucky for economic development feature to run during holiday travel season

FRANKFORT, Ky. (Sept. 6, 2012) – Kentucky has been selected as the first state to be featured in a new economic development series by United Hemispheres, the onboard magazine for United Airline’s global fleet. The special 30-plus page section will be released in December and will be the most extensive editorial profile ever on Kentucky’s business climate.

The United Hemispheres feature will demonstrate why Kentucky is a great place to invest or relocate, focusing on the state’s global impact, business diversity and innovation. The article will be designed to answer the questions today’s corporate leaders are asking, showcasing what makes Kentucky unique, how the state is addressing the changing economic landscape, as well as what corporate and economic development leaders across the state are doing and thinking.

“This is not only a tremendous honor for Kentucky, it’s an unprecedented opportunity to showcase the state’s vibrant and dynamic business climate on a global platform,” said Gov. Steve Beshear. “United Hemispheres has recognized Kentucky for the wealth of opportunities it has to offer, not only as a home to iconic brands such as KFC and Corvette, world-famous bourbon and champion horses, but also for its forward-thinking approach to developing the next generation of business opportunities.”

“Kentucky has quite a story to tell,” said Larry Hayes, Cabinet for Economic Development Secretary. “We are excited United Hemispheres has offered to share our story with millions of readers from around the world, and to showcase the true unbridled spirit of Kentucky’s people and businesses.”

The article, which will be on board flights during the month of December, also will be available at www.hemispheresmagazine.com, as well as via the Hemispheres app for mobile devices.

“In dealing with economic development initiatives, perception is reality,” said Carsten Morgan, United Hemispheres’ Vice President, Special Projects. “Kentucky’s diverse economy and approach to development will undoubtedly delight and inspire our global audience.”
