LEXINGTON, Ky. (Sept. 6, 2012) — Kenneth Troske, senior associate dean and the Sturgill Endowed Professor of Economics in the University of Kentucky’s Gatton College of Business and Economics, will be part of a national symposium in Washington, D.C., Friday, examining the effectiveness of federal job training programs as a way to reinvigorate America’s work force.
Troske, who served on the five-person Congressional Oversight Panel which monitored the federal Trouble Asset Relief Program (TARP) in the wake of 2008’s major recession, was invited by the American Enterprise Institute (AEI) to serve on a panel looking at reform of publicly funded job training.
In addition to Troske, expert panelists representing the University of Chicago, Harvard University, the University of Michigan, Georgetown University and the Brookings Institution are among those participating in the day-long conference.
“The invitation to be part of this discussion speaks to the respect that Professor Troske and his fellow faculty in the Gatton College command on a national level,” said David Blackwell, dean of the college.
