Gov. Bevin makes appointments to Kentucky boards and commissions

FRANKFORT, Ky. — Gov. Matt Bevin has made the following appointments to Kentucky boards and commissions:

Lynn Taylor Tye has been appointed as a member of the Eastern Kentucky University Board of Regents.

  • Lynn Taylor Tye, of Danville, is an insurance agent. She will serve for a term expiring June 30, 2024.

The Eastern Kentucky University Board of Regents is made up of eight members appointed by the Governor and three other members, including a teaching faculty representative, a nonteaching employee representative and the student body president. Board members serve for six-year terms. 

Patty Wininger, LaDeidra Jones, Brenda Beers-Reineke and Melissa Chandler have been appointed as members of the Parole Board.

  • Patty Wininger, of Dry Ridge, is a retired state employee. She will serve for a term expiring June 30, 2022; and
  • LaDeidra Jones, of Georgetown, is a social service clinician. She will serve for a term expiring July 15, 2022; and
  • Brenda Beers-Reineke, of Crestview Hills, is an Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney. She will serve for a term expiring July 15, 2022; and
  • Melissa Chandler, of Lawrenceburg, is a Parole Board member. She will serve for a term expiring June 30, 2022.

The Parole Board is composed of nine members appointed by the Governor to a four-year staggered term. Each Board member must have at least five years of actual experience in the fields of penology, corrections work, law enforcement, sociology, law, education, social work, medicine, or a combination thereof, or must have served five years previously on the Parole Board. The Board must study case histories of those up for parole, conduct hearings for granting parole, issue warrants for violating parole and determine the period of supervision for those granted parole.

Erika Calihan and Todd Earwood have been appointed as members of the Judicial Nominating Commission for the Court of Appeals and Supreme Court of Kentucky.

  • Erika Calihan, of Lexington, is a homemaker. She will serve for a term expiring Jan. 1, 2022; and
  • Todd Earwood, of Prospect, is the chief executive officer (CEO) of a consulting firm. He will serve for a term expiring Jan. 1, 2022.

The Judicial Nominating Commission for the Court of Appeals and Supreme Court of Kentucky is composed of seven members. When a judicial vacancy occurs, the executive secretary of the Judicial Nominating Commission sends a notice of vacancy to all attorneys in the judicial circuit or the judicial district affected. Attorneys can recommend someone or nominate themselves.

Emily Moore, Aaron Witten and Summer Goldman have been appointed as members of the Kentucky Lottery Corporation Board of Directors.

  • Emily Moore, of Burlington, is a business owner. She will serve for a term expiring Nov. 28, 2021; and
  • Aaron Witten, of Leitchfield, is a certified financial planner. He will serve for a term expiring Nov. 28, 2022; and
  • Summer Goldman, of Louisville, is vice president of business systems and processes for Farm Credit Mid-America. She will serve for a term expiring Nov. 28, 2022.

The Kentucky Lottery Corporation Board of Directors is composed of eight members, seven of whom are appointed by the Governor and require Senate confirmation. The Board controls and regulates all aspects of the lottery, including games, prizes, and method of sales in Kentucky.

Franklin Atwood Stivers has been appointed as a member of the Kentucky Workers’ Compensation Board.

  • Franklin Atwood Stivers, of London, is an attorney. He will serve for a term expiring Jan. 4, 2023.

The Kentucky Worker’s Compensation Board is composed of three members appointed by the Governor from lists of three names for each vacancy submitted by the Workers’ Compensation Nominating Commission. The Board rules on appeals of decisions rendered by administrative law judges under workers’ compensation.
