Renowned HBCU President to serve as keynote speaker for Kentucky State University Women’s History Assembly

FRANKFORT, Ky. — Kentucky State University will host a Women’s History Assembly March 28 at 11 a.m. in the Carl H. Smith Auditorium in David H. Bradford Hall.

Dr. Glenda Baskin Glover, president of Tennessee State University, will offer the keynote address. Glover, also a certified public accountant and attorney, is one of two African-American women in the nation to hold the degrees of Ph.D., CPA and JD.

In July, Glover became the 30th International President of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated. Glover will lead the storied until 2022, under the theme “Exemplifying Excellence Through Sustainable Service.”

Glover began serving as president of Tennessee State in January 2013. Her five-point vision for the institution includes academic progress and customer service; fundraising and partnerships; diversity and inclusion; shared governance and business outreach.

Glover has a distinguished career working at Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). Glover was formerly the dean of the College of Business at Jackson State University, where she led the college through the accreditation process and spearheaded the implementation of the nation’s first Ph.D. in business at an HBCU.

Prior to working at Jackson State, Glover served as chairperson of the department of accounting at Howard University.

Glover’s undergraduate career took place at Tennessee State University where she earned a Bachelor of Science, followed by earning an MBA at Clark Atlanta University. Glover then completed her doctorate in business from George Washington University and her law degree from Georgetown University.

Glover’s past employment also included the roles of vice president and chief financial officer of an engineering firm, a tax manager at a major public utility company and an accountant with a Big-Four CPA firm.

Glover has also served as a corporate board member of three publicly traded corporations, including Citigroup-Student Loan Corporation, Pinnacle Financial Partners and First Guaranty Bancshares. Glover is also the author of more than 100 articles and papers and is regarded as one of the nation’s experts on corporate governance.
