Alltech National Horse Show, Get Healthy Kentucky present Countryside Canter 5K

[Lexington, KY] – More often home to thundering hooves, on Saturday, Nov. 3, the Kentucky Horse Park  will resound to the thundering feet of the runners and walkers in the Alltech Countryside Canter 5K and Fun Run/Walk presented by Get Healthy Kentucky. It takes places in conjunction with the Alltech National Horse Show.

New this year, runners and walkers can take part in either a 5K or a one-mile fun walk or run. Participants will follow a course around the Kentucky Horse Park, beginning and ending at the Alltech Arena. All proceeds after operational expenses will be donated to The All Glory Project, which seeks to promote, foster and support programs that utilize animal-assisted therapies in aiding military veterans and their families.

The event begins at 8 a.m. Nov. 3. Participants can register online for the Family Fun Run/Walk and the Countryside Canter 5K no later than Thursday, Nov. 1. The first 500 who register will receive a commemorative race shirt.

Entries  prior to Oct. 15 cost $25, and entries between Oct. 15 and Nov. 1 are $30. Registration  the day of the event will be $35.

“Alltech is committed to nutrition and health and we are proud to partner with Get Healthy Kentucky on this run. With the Alltech Countryside Canter, not only are we promoting good health, but also supporting a great cause,” said Dr. Pearse Lyons, president and founder of Alltech. “This also adds yet another fun element to an already first-class family event — the Alltech National Horse Show.”

Following the race, participants are welcome to attend the Alltech National Horse Show, which takes place in the Alltech Arena at the Kentucky Horse Park Oct. 30 through Nov. 4. The Alltech National Horse Show offers affordable entertainment for the entire family. Special events and performances will be held throughout the run of the show, and there will be activities for children, as well as a wide array of vendors. Daytime admission is free, and children under 12 are free throughout the show, including evening performances. Tickets for Thursday, Friday and Saturday night events will be available at the door. Parking during the horse show is free.
