Covington, Ky. (September 28, 2012) – Phillip Singerman, assistant secretary of commerce for economic development during the Clinton administration, is one of more than two dozen international, national and local governmental, industry and education leaders headlining an international manufacturing conference here Monday and Tuesday.
Jointly sponsored by Gateway Community and Technical College and the Trans-Atlantic Technology and Training Alliance (TA3), the conference is open for public registration and examines “The Future of Manufacturing: Implications for Education and Training.”
Singerman currently serves as associate director for innovation and industry services at the National Institute of Standards and Technology. The conference features a range of manufacturing and career training experts, including John Baines, president of HAHN Automation; José Luis Fernández Maure, international manager of the Institute of Innovation for Technical Colleges from the Basque Country; Lou Lenzi, industrial design director at GE Appliances; and Dr. James F. McKenney, vice president of economic development and international programs for the American Association of Community Colleges.
Local speakers include Ross Meyer, executive director of Partners for a Competitive Workforce, Dr. Ed Hughes, president/CEO of Gateway Community and Technical College; and Dr. Angie Taylor, Gateway vice president of Workforce Solutions and innovations.
The cost to attend the conference is $275 and includes entrance to all sessions, buffet lunch, two drink tickets for reception, and all refreshments. Participants may register at the door.
