LEXINGTON, Ky. — Saint Joseph Hospital Foundation hosted its 31st Annual STARS Gala on Saturday, Nov. 9. The event raised nearly $135,000 to support the Emergency Department Renovation Project at Saint Joseph Hospital. Attendees also enjoyed an awards presentation that named two Physicians of the Year and recognized a local family with the Saint Joseph Hospital Foundation Community Philanthropist of the Year award.
“We are thrilled to name Dr. Jessica Croley and Dr. Kevin Donohue as the 2019 Physicians of the Year, for Saint Joseph East and Saint Joseph Hospital, respectively,” said Leslie Smart, CFRE, president, Saint Joseph Hospital Foundation. “These physicians go above and beyond every day, demonstrating exceptional patient care and living our values of faith and service.”
Dr. Croley’s passion for medicine stems from a lifelong love of science. She decided to become an oncologist after cancer affected both her father and grandmother. She enjoys the personal aspect of her profession, helping each patient meet their individual goals.
For Dr. Donohue, medicine and caring for patients at Saint Joseph Hospital is in his blood. His father was a surgeon at the hospital and his mother was a nurse. He loves that his fellow physicians and staff at the hospital see their profession as a calling and a ministry.
The contributions of the Hillenmeyer family span generations. Robert Hillenmeyer was a dedicated volunteer and donor who went on to establish the Saint Joseph Hospital Foundation. Since then, the entire family has supported the hospital through countless volunteer hours and other forms of giving. The Hillenmeyers are proud that helping others is at the center of their family values.
“The Hillenmeyer family has done so much for Saint Joseph Hospital over the years, and we were honored to present them with the 2019 Saint Joseph Hospital Foundation Community Philanthropist of the Year award,” said Smart.
