Lexington Marriott City Center and Residence Inn Lexington City Center hotels name banquet chef

Tim McGowan

LEXINGTON, Ky. — The Lexington Marriott City Center Hotels have announced that Tim McGowan has been named banquet chef of the Lexington Marriott City Center and Residence Inn Lexington City Center.

“I’m not good at doing quotes like this. I hate that they all sound generic and seem to have little actual meaning. Tim is more than that. He is invaluable and his meaning to this team cannot be measured. He will bring so much more than his superb banquet culinary skills to this team and this hotel. I’m happy to have him in an environment where he can thrive. I can’t wait for him to show Lexington what he can do.”, said Chef TJ Harville, executive chef of the Lexington Marriott City Center Hotels.

McGowan, a native of Fairport, NY, graduated from the University of Kentucky in 1994 with a degree in Landscape Architecture. Soon following his second passion of hospitality, graduated with honors from Sullivan College, Louisville, in 1998 with a Culinary Arts Degree.  Closely acquainted with the downtown restaurant scene, McGowan started at de’Sha’s then became the executive sous chef at the Radisson Hotel. Next, completed 14 years with the Port Restaurant Group as sous chef of Portofino and then executive chef at Serafini in Frankfort. After a brief stint in the Governor’s Mansion, returned to downtown as the banquet chef at the Hyatt Regency for the past two years.

“Starting a hotel literally from the ground up will be exciting and challenging every day,” said McGowan, but I have the utmost confidence in the team we have to make it a successful centerpiece of the downtown city scape.”
