Cumberlands’ online criminal justice program ranked no. 1 in Kentucky

WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. — Two online programs at University of the Cumberlands were recently ranked by U.S. News & World Report as being among the top programs of their kind nationwide. Cumberlands’ online Master’s in Criminal Justice Administration program ranked no. 1 in Kentucky (no. 7 in the nation), and the online Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) degree program ranked no. 7 in Kentucky.

Rankings were determined based on student engagement, faculty credentials and training, the programs’ services and technologies, expert opinion, and student excellence. U.S. News & World Report collected data from peer reputation surveys as well as from statistical surveys provided by the colleges and universities in order to make the calculations.

“It is terrific seeing our programs receive recognition. I believe it speaks to the character of our great faculty and staff, and to our students who put forth incredible effort, even while many are simultaneously maintaining careers and raising families,” said Dr. Christopher Leskiw, vice president of Academic Affairs at Cumberlands. “We are glad to offer high-quality programs that students can afford in a format flexible enough for them to juggle their responsibilities and still finish their degrees. Those have been our goals from the start.”

This is the second year in a row that the online Master’s in Criminal Justice Administration (MJA) program has been named the best in the state by U.S. News and World Report. Cumberlands offers the lowest tuition rate for MJA programs of any college in the state, according to data from GetEducated.com. The program also boasts several specialization options, such as cybersecurity, digital forensics, law enforcement, and addiction studies.

“I am very proud of our faculty, staff, and students,” said Dr. Jack Brown, director of Graduate Studies for the Department of Criminal Justice. “The MJA program’s continued success is driven by the University’s commitment to enhancing students’ online experience and always providing the highest-quality graduate education year to year. We continue to bring the best online education with the best service at the most competitive price.”

Cumberlands’ online MBA program was listed no. 7 in Kentucky in the recent ranking. The cost per credit hour at Cumberlands is less than half the national average, and a degree in business is not required for admission. Employees nationwide report significant increases in their salaries after obtaining MBA degrees. The career-finding platform Relish listed an average salary increase of $36,742 for workers who had completed their MBA.

Online programs at Cumberlands offer admission year-round, and tuition begins at $199 per credit hour for undergraduate courses. For more information, visit ucumberlands.edu.
