PROSPECT, Ky. — Norton Commons, the walkable mixed-use community in northeast Jefferson County, Monday shared how businesses are adjusting to the COVID pandemic.

“Norton Commons has over 70-plus businesses and the vast majority are independent and locally owned,” said Marilyn Osborn Patterson, marketing director and legal counsel for Norton Commons. “We hope that people throughout the Louisville region work to prioritize patronizing local establishments. It’s now more important than ever.”

Norton Commons polled businesses in the community on ways they are changing up their operations in the current environment. Below is an initial list of responses.

Core Pilates, Yoga, and Barre: Closing for at least two weeks until the need for social distancing ceases. Plan to offer free Pilates mat, yoga and online breathwork program to clients. I will post more here once we have a schedule. Clients will need a phone or laptop to connect into Zoom. Prospective new clients are welcome to call.

Dogwood Veterinary Clinic: Clients can still accompany their pets to appointments, but Dogwood also offers drop-off and house calls. Dogwood can send a technician out to your car to get your pet and communicate by phone regarding your pet’s history. These are services Dogwood always offers, but in addition during this time, a technician can also come and pick up your pet and bring them to the hospital or deliver medications to the home.

Atkins & Atkins Law: Open for business, but strongly encourages phone calls, emails, or video conferencing whenever possible.  The firm recommends clients and prospective clients who do not have an updated will, healthcare surrogate, living will, and power of attorney, to consider having those documents prepared and executed at this time and is offering discounts for those services.

Tad Thomas Law Offices: Clients or prospective clients are urged to call as staff are working remotely.
