LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Susan G. Komen Kentucky has announced two changes to the breast cancer affiliate, which serves breast cancer patients and survivors in 111 counties throughout Kentuckiana. Komen Kentucky’s board of directors has appointed Amy Pehlke, a seven-year volunteer and board member, as executive director. Komen Kentucky has also relocated its office to 9900 Shelbyville Road in Louisville, effective May 1, 2020.

Former Executive Director Lynda Weeks has assumed a new role with Komen Kentucky as director of development, and will be working alongside Pehlke to grow the Affiliate’s mission and outreach.

“I’m thankful for the confidence Lynda Weeks and the board of directors have in my ability to lead Komen Kentucky and look forward to supporting the women and men in our community who are affected by breast cancer,” said Pehlke. “One of my goals with this new role is to increase the involvement and understanding of younger people that breast cancer does not only affect those who are older, but women and men of all ages. I am honored to accept this role and continue the wonderful work this organization is already doing in southern Indiana and Kentucky. Breast cancer patients and survivors deserve to have the resources they need, and we are here to provide that support.”

Pehlke’s connection to Komen Kentucky’s mission was inspired by her mother’s own journey with breast cancer. Following her mother’s battle and survival with the disease, she says she became aware of how prevalent breast cancer is in local communities, which motivated her to get more involved with the local organization.

Pehlke has volunteered for Komen Kentucky since 2013 and twice-chaired the organization’s annual gala. After serving two terms on the board of directors, she became president in 2019.

“Amy is truly committed to Komen’s mission and I have complete confidence she will lead this organization to meet the ever changing needs of our local communities, and continue to help raise awareness and funds to support our mission,” said Weeks. “Amy has been an invaluable volunteer and has contributed so much to our Affiliate. I look forward to working with her and watching her flourish in this position.”

In addition to personnel changes, Komen Kentucky has relocated its office from Butchertown to the Hurstbourne area, effective May 1, 2020. The new office is located at 9900 Shelbyville Road. Komen Kentucky will maintain regular operating hours Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
