Newly created ‘Covington Contractors’ list growing

Businesses urged to sign up for Shop Local initiative

COVINGTON, Ky. — Almost 30 Covington businesses – ranging from an electrician to a design firm to a locksmith – have already signed up to be included on the city’s newly created “Covington Contractors” list.

The list, which can be seen on the city’s website, is self-populated by the businesses and was set up for two reasons:

  • To extend the “Shop Local” philosophy from retail to service-oriented businesses, thus helping home-grown contractors.
  • And to make it easier for small businesses applying for city incentives to earn available “points” assigned when they use Covington contractors.

“This listing is a great tool to help us support our existing businesses, while at the same time providing a useful service to incentive applicants, other Covington businesses, and the local community in general,” said Suzann Gettys, the Economic Development Department’s Business Retention & Expansion specialist.

“I encourage contractors to sign up to be listed, and businesses who need to hire someone to use the list,” she said.

The list will continue to grow as more Covington-based contractors sign up. Both the list – and the sign-up form – can be accessed HERE.

Contractors must be qualified and properly licensed, have a Covington location and a city occupational license, and be in good standing with the City of Covington.
