Congressman Guthrie to deliver WKU public lecture on healthcare legislation

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (Feb. 1, 2012) – U.S. Rep. Brett Guthrie will deliver the 2012 L.Y. Lancaster-Hugh Puckett Lecture at 6 p.m. Feb. 23 at the Carroll Knicely Conference Center, WKU’s South Campus. A reception will begin at 5 p.m.

Congressman Guthrie’s presentation is titled Congressional Update on Health Care Legislation. Guthrie, R-Bowling Green, represents Kentucky’s 2nd Congressional District.

The lecture, sponsored by the L.Y. Lancaster-Hugh Puckett Lectureship Society, is free and open to the public.

The lecture series started in 1980 in honor of L.Y. Lancaster, a former pre-med advisor at WKU, and now shares the honor with another former pre-med advisor Hugh Puckett. The series has invited a number of well-known speakers from various backgrounds to the WKU campus, including Nobel Laureate Stanley Cohen (1989), painter Ray Harm (1990), Raymond Preston (1992), former Lt. Gov. Stephen Henry (1997), former WKU president Dero Downing (1999) and Pete Mahurin (2007).
