Irvine leaders hope to boost tourism with railroad project

IRVINE, Ky. — Backers of an economic development project called The Yard hope to use interest in a 40-acre former railroad property to boost tourism.

The Estill County project is led by Kentucky Steam, a nonprofit with a goal of restoring historic rail equipment and bolstering economic development in Appalachian Kentucky by the adaptive reuse of the area’s rail infrastructure.
