Gilbert named UK HealthCare SVP, chief operations officer

LEXINGTON, Ky.  — Peter N. Gilbert has been named UK HealthCare’s first senior vice president and chief operations officer (COO).

Gilbert previously served as the associate dean for administration and finance at the University of Kentucky College of Medicine, from 2005 to 2010.

Gilbert’s extensive experience in health care also includes earlier roles at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. He has a master’s degree in finance from Loyola College in Maryland and attended the Academy for Innovation in Higher Education Leadership at Georgetown University and Arizona State University.

At UK HealthCare, Gilbert will be the senior operations leader within the executive vice president for health affair’s executive team and he will provide oversight to the inpatient and ambulatory capabilities both on and off-campus.

In addition, Gilbert’s responsibilities as COO will include leading UK HealthCare hospital and ambulatory operations, including community partnerships and support functions such as information technology and facilities management, and oversee day-to-day operations, such as meeting financial goals, budget development, and monitoring volume and productivity.
