Forbes magazine has confirmed what blue-blooded University of Kentucky fans have believed all along: Lexington is one of the nation’s top college sports towns.
The magazine recently released its listing of the top college sports towns in the United States, basing its rankings not only on sports but other business and community factors as well. Lexington came in at No. 5 on the list.
The basis for the rankings began with the top 50 finishers in the Director’s Cut, an award presented by the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics to schools based on their performance in all varsity sports. From there, the magazine factored in home prices, quality of public schools, crime statistics, and business development/investment.
