Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear says Kentucky will immediately comply with new CDC guidelines and change the state’s mask mandate to say individuals who are fully vaccinated no longer have to wear masks indoors or outdoors and no longer need to practice social distancing.

Beshear called the CDC announcement “great news we have all been waiting for.”

“This is outstanding. It means we are so close to normalcy,” Beshear said in a video Thursday soon after the CDC announcement. “Now folks, this means you ought to go get your shot of hope if you haven’t.”

The governor emphasized there are hundreds of thousands of available appointments across the state to get the vaccine.
