BCEA breaks ground in South Cooper Industrial Park

Established in 1984, the Barren County Economic Authority is the lead economic development organization in Barren County

GLASGOW, Ky. — The Barren County Economic Authority has broken ground on two sites totaling 43 acres in the South Cooper Industrial Park. The Barren County Economic Authority is making significant investments in the new industrial park including the grading of its first two sites.

South Cooper Industrial Park is a 152-acre industrial park located in Glasgow, KY off US 68. Over the last year since its purchase, the Authority has completed several due diligence studies including a Phase I Environmental Study, Geotechnical and Geophysical analysis, Archeological and Stream & Wetlands.

The US 68 widening and turn lane project has also been awarded and will include an access road into the park. Utility installations including water, sewer, electric, and gas are also underway. All this planning has prepared the park for this next step to include grading of roughly 43 acres.

The anticipated $1,045,000 investment will provide two marketable sites. In addition to the grading project, the BCEA will add a gateway sign to the park.

The Barren County Economic Authority put the project out to bid and has selected Scotty’s Contracting to complete the project. It is anticipated that the sites will be ready within the next
100-days. The Park is being marketed to a variety of potential industrial customers that will benefit from the site’s location, proximity to larger markets, a lower cost of doing business, and an excellent transportation network.
