The Boulevardier was created by Erskine Gwynne, an American-born writer who founded a monthly magazine in Paris called Boulevardier, which appeared from 1927 to 1932. The cocktail is flexible; contemporary palates may appreciate bumping up the bourbon to 1 1/2 ounces and dropping the other ingredients to 3/4 ounce.
Ingredients
- 1 1/4 ounces bourbon
- 1 ounce Campari
- 1 ounce sweet vermouth
- Garnish: orange twist
Method
- Add bourbon, Campari, and sweet vermouth into a mixing glass with ice and stir until well-chilled.
- Strain into a rocks glass over fresh ice.
- Garnish with an orange twist.
