Marson named new president & CEO named for ShelbyKY Tourism

SHELBY COUNTY, Ky, — Long-time Lake Cumberland Tourism Director, Janette Marson, is named President & CEO of ShelbyKY Tourism. With a start date of March 7, Marson replaces former President & CEO Chenelle McGee, who went on to the Kentucky Department of Travel and Tourism as International Sales Director.

Marson comes to Shelby County with a vast career in marketing, advertising, and public relations. For almost nine years, she was the Executive Director of the Lake Cumberland Tourist Commission in Russell County. Currently, Marson is the President of the Kentucky State Tourism Association and holds a Travel Marketing Professional Degree from STS Marketing College at the University of North Georgia and an Advanced Certificate in Tourism from KTIA.

“I am thrilled to be chosen as the new President & CEO of ShelbyKY Tourism. There is already a strong foundation built by the incredible leadership of past Presidents, Chenelle McGee and Katie Fussenegger.  I count myself lucky and blessed to follow these great ladies as the new President & CEO.” Marson went on to say, “Shelby County continues to have incredible growth potential and I am excited to be a part of it. From the new state-of-the-art Conference Center and Stargazer Plaza to the economic development that comes from increased tourist spending, the future of Shelby County looks very bright.”

An Indianapolis native, Marson previously worked at an ad agency in the city and owned an advertising company for many years. Marson has experience as a creative writer and producer at the ABC, NBC and CBS affiliate television stations in Indianapolis, and continues to have a great love for creative video, video production and media relations. She was a television anchor for a CBS Public Affairs program and has worked as a Marketing/PR Director for a popular Indianapolis Art Center. Marson also has a Bachelor of Science Degree from Butler University in Communications with a Minor in Public Relations.
