Spirit Airline at Louisville Airport announces non-stop flight to Myrtle Beach

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Spirit Airlines announced a new nonstop service to Myrtle Beach (MYR) from the Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport (SDF), giving area travelers more options to one of their favorite beach destinations. Just in time for summer travel, the new seasonal service is scheduled to start Thursday, May 26, which is the last day of school for many Louisville-area students. Service will be offered two to three times weekly.

“Spirit is a great airline partner for SDF,” said Dan Mann, Executive Director of the Louisville Regional Airport Authority. “Since arriving in Louisville last May, Spirit continues to grow their presence and provide travelers even more options. We appreciate their ongoing investment and confidence in our market’s strength.”

Service to Myrtle Beach marks Spirit’s seventh destination from Louisville and nearly doubles the number of nonstop routes the airline now offers in less than a year at SDF. In addition to Myrtle Beach, Spirit offers nonstop service from Louisville to Fort Lauderdale (FLL), Fort Myers (RSW), Las Vegas (LAS), Los Angeles (LAX), Orlando (MCO) and Tampa (TPA).

Plus, Spirit is providing race fans more options to reach Louisville for this year’s Kentucky Derby. They will offer special nonstop service from Baltimore (BWI), Chicago-O’Hare (ORD), Detroit (DTW) and Newark (EWR), making it even easier for Derby-goers to experience the fastest two minutes in sports.

Tickets to Myrtle Beach or any of Spirit’s destinations, are available at www.Spirit.com.

The announcement follows a year that saw SDF welcome two new airlines, 14 new routes and a record-setting 37 nonstop destinations – the most in the airport’s history. Passenger traffic continues to rebound with SDF leading the region in capacity recovery at 101% compared to 2019 and besting the national average of 92%.
