Governor makes appointments to boards and commissions

FRANKFORT, Ky. (Nov. 27, 2012) – Gov. Steve Beshear has made the following appointment to Kentucky boards and commissions:

Beshear appointed JoAnn George as city commissioner for the City of Paris to serve according to the provisions of Section 152 of the Kentucky Constitution.

George, of Paris, is a school nutrition director for the Paris Board of Education.

The governor appointed Sharon S. Potter to the Louisville/Jefferson County Tourist and Convention Commission to serve for a term expiring Aug. 13, 2014.

Potter, of Louisville, is a multimedia producer and civic advocate. The appointment replaces Elaine M. Musselman, whose term has expired.

Beshear appointed the following members to the Judicial Nominating Commission for the 19th Judicial Circuit and Judicial District of Kentucky:

· Margaret M. “Peggy” Heflin, of Maysville, is a software consultant at Fiscalsoft Corp. The appointment replaces Ethel M. Foley, whose term has expired. Heflin shall serve for a term expiring Jan. 1, 2016.

· Gary L. Clayton, of Brooksville, is retired. The appointment replaces Wanda R. Maxey, whose term has expired. Clayton shall serve for a term expiring Jan. 1, 2016.

· Louie K. Flanery, of Flemingsburg, is retired. The appointment replaces Charles J. Hunter, whose term has expired. Flanery shall serve for a term expiring Jan. 1, 2014.

· Daryl D. Grannis, of Flemingsburg, is a farmer. The appointment replaces Regina Free, whose term has expired. Grannis shall serve for a term expiring Jan. 1, 2014.

Beshear appointed Heather Robertson to the Kentucky Radon Program Advisory Committee to serve for the remainder of the unexpired term ending June 30, 2013.

Robertson, of Lexington, is program administrator and manager of clean indoor air partnership at the University of Kentucky. She represents the Kentucky Cancer Consortium. The appointment replaces Goetz Kloecker.

The governor reappointed the following members to the committee to serve for terms expiring June 30, 2016:

· Kenneth J. McLaughlin, of Lexington, is a self-employed home inspection and radon mitigation contractor. He represents the Kentucky Association of Radon Professionals.

· Dan Troutman, of Danville, represents citizens at large.

Beshear appointed Timothy Robert Corrigan to the Southern Growth Policies Board to serve at the pleasure of the governor.

Corrigan, of Louisville, is an attorney at The Rotunda Group LLC. The appointment replaces Bonnie O. Tanner, whose term has expired.

Beshear reappointed the following members to the Kentucky Registry of Election Finance to serve for terms expiring Aug. 15, 2016:

·  Teresa L. Naydan, of Lexington, is retired. She represents nonpartisan organizations.

· Craig Christman Dilger, of Louisville, is an attorney at Stoll, Keenon, Ogden. He represents nonpartisan organizations.

The governor Beshear reappointed the following members to the Board of Respiratory Care to serve for terms expiring Oct. 31, 2015:

· Robert W. Powell, of Louisville, is a pulmonologist at Norton Healthcare. He represents pulmonologists.

· Kathleen Kearney Schell, of Louisville, is an attorney. She represents citizens at large.

Beshear appointed Michael E. Poynter to the Kentucky Wireless Interoperability Executive Committee to serve for the remainder of the unexpired term ending July 22, 2013.

Poynter, of Lexington, is executive director of the Kentucky Board of Emergency Medical Services. He represents local emergency management services. The appointment replaces Bob Hammonds, whose term has expired.

Beshear appointed Hilma S. Prather to the Kentucky Board of Social Work to serve for the remainder of the unexpired term ending June 21, 2014.

Prather, of Somerset, is a retired educator. The appointment replaces Donald G. Greene.

Gov. Beshear reappointed June G. Hudson to the Kentucky Lottery Corp. Board of Directors to serve for a term expiring Nov. 28, 2016. This order is effective Nov. 29, 2012.

Hudson, of Benton, works for Liberty Tax Service.

Gov. Beshear appointed Clinton N. Morris to the Martin Luther King Jr. State Commission to serve for a term expiring Dec. 12, 2016. This order is effective Dec. 13, 2012.

· Clinton N. Morris, of Lexington, is an executive assistant for the Personnel Cabinet. The appointment replaces Ron L. Walker, whose term has expired.

Gov. Beshear reappointed the following members to the commission to serve for terms expiring Dec. 12, 2016:

·  Tiffany N. Yeast, of Harrodsburg, is executive director of human resources for the Tourism, Arts and Heritage Cabinet. Yeast shall serve as chair of the commission.

· Yvette M. Smith, of Frankfort, is executive director of the Office of Equal Employment Opportunity Contract Compliance in the Finance and Administration Cabinet.

The governor reappointed the following members to the Agriculture Water Quality Authority to serve for terms expiring Oct. 1, 2016:

· J. Larry Thomas, of Elizabethtown, is a farmer. He represents the Kentucky Farm Bureau Federation.

· Amanda Gumbert, of Lexington, is an extension water quality liaison at the University of Kentucky. She represents the University of Kentucky College of Agriculture Cooperative Extension Service.

· David W. Rowlett, of Carrollton, is a farmer and power plant production supervisor at Kentucky Utilities Co. He represents the Kentucky Association of Conservation Districts.

· Elijah Allen Kyle, of Clinton, is an executive staff adviser for the Kentucky Department of Agriculture. He represents the Kentucky Department of Agriculture.

Beshear appointed the following members to the Kentucky Workforce Investment Board:

· George Steele, of Grayson, is mayor of Grayson. He represents municipalities and counties. The appointment replaces Diane E. Whalen, whose term has expired. Steele shall serve for a term expiring May 12, 2016.

· Steve Willinghurst, of Louisville, is an electrician and training director at Louisville Electrical JATC. He represents labor. The appointment replaces Benny G. Adair, whose term has expired. Willinghurst shall serve for a term expiring May 12, 2016.

· Richard Neal Wilson, of Bowling Green, is a banker at BB&T. He represents banks. The appointment replaces Betsy Hudson Flynn, whose term has expired. Wilson shall serve for a term expiring May 12, 2016.

· James Neihof, of Shelbyville, is superintendent of Shelby County Public Schools. He represents education programs. The appointment replaces Roger L. Marcum, whose term has expired. Neihof shall serve for a term expiring May 12, 2016.

· Col. David E. Thompson, of Fisherville, is executive director of the Kentucky Commission on Military Affairs. He represents military. The appointment replaces Col. Mark D. Needham. Thompson shall serve for the remainder of the unexpired term ending May 12, 2015.

The governor reappointed the following members to the board to serve for terms expiring May 12, 2016:

· James P. Cole, of Southgate, is a self-employed consultant. He represents labor.

· Judy L. Rhoads, of Madisonville, is president of Madisonville Community and Technical College. She represents delivery of workforce investment.

· Crystal Gibson, of Florence, is vice president of public affairs at Citigroup. She represents the state chamber.

· Kevin Shurn, of Louisville, is the owner of Superior Maintenance. He represents business/members at large.

· Sandra T. Higgins-Stinson, of Madisonville, is a retired health care executive and president of The Thomas Group. She represents business/members at large.

· Herbert A. Krase, of Somerset, is senior vice president of administration at Toyotetsu America Inc. He represents the auto supply business.

· Joe Grieshop, of Harlan, is Harlan County judge-executive. He represents municipalities and counties.

Gov. Beshear appointed Anthony Eric Wolff to the Bluegrass State Skills Corp. Board of Directors to serve for a term expiring July 5, 2016.

Wolff, of Hebron, is vice president of manufacturing at L’Oreal USA. The appointment replaces Richard E. Stump, whose term has expired.

Beshear reappointed the following members to the board to serve for terms expiring July 5, 2016:

· Daniel L. Atzinger, of Louisville, is an electrician and technical training coordinator at Ford Louisville Assembly Plant.

· Rita L. Combs-Sterrett, of Louisville, is a self-employed consultant.

· John Y. Kuzuoka, of Louisville, is a union sheet metal worker with Merrick-Kemper.

· Randall D. Fox, of Benton, is a human resources special projects leader at RioTinto Alcan. Beshear has designated Randall D. Fox as chair of the board.

Gov. Beshear has appointed William M. Alverson to the Tourism Development Finance Authority to serve for the remainder of the unexpired term ending Jan. 31, 2015.

Alverson, of Paris, is president at Traditional Bank. The appointment replaces Michael A. Mangeot, who has resigned.

Gov. Beshear has reappointed Harold G. Brantley to the Real Estate Appraisers Board to serve for a term expiring Nov. 19, 2015.

Brantley, of Bowling Green, is a real estate appraiser at Brantley Appraisal Co.
