LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Schmidt Associates CEO and Principal, and Junior Achievement of Central Indiana Board Chair Sarah Hempstead has received the Gold Leadership Award from Junior Achievement USA.

The award is the organization’s most prestigious national honor for volunteerism and recognizes excellence, presented in recognition of leadership in supporting and expanding JA’s student impact, resources, operational excellence, and sustainability. The Gold Leadership Award honors Hempstead’s service during the 2020-21 school year.

“It’s a tremendous honor to receive this prestigious award. As a servant leader, I am passionate about inspiring and preparing young people to succeed in the global economy,” Hempstead said. “When we educate and empower others, we have fulfilled JA’s mission while shaping future leaders to fuel local communities.”

Junior Achievement’s entrepreneurship, financial literacy, and work readiness programs are delivered nationwide — typically in classrooms during the school day, by volunteer role models like Hempstead who are respected community leaders.
