Fidelity Investments has opened a new 360,000-s.f. building at its regional facility in Covington, where the company operates a customer contact center for Fidelity Personal Investments, regional operations for Fidelity Retirement Services, and Fidelity Enterprise Processing Services, which provides support to all Fidelity business units.

The new $144 million facility marks the culmination of work begun in 2005 and is part of the company’s long-term plan to develop its regional Midwest operations.

Over the past 21 years, Fidelity has created more than 4,500 jobs in the region and made capital investments totaling more than $300 million. The company now ranks as Kentucky’s sixth-largest private-sector employer.

The new office building is Fidelity’s first certified LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) facility and is designed to be energy- and water-efficient and full of interior natural light. The building’s exterior architecture was designed to resemble row houses reminiscent of  the historic neighborhoods in and around Covington.
