Mudslide closes KY 1110 in Breathitt County

LEXINGTON, Ky. (July 8, 2013) — Kentucky Hwy. 1110 in Breathitt County is closed today between mile markers 14 and 15 because of a mudslide. WYMT-TV reports that the slide occurred Saturday evening.

The closure is approximately one mile from KY 15 at Haddix, said Kentucky Transportation Cabinet officials.

A detour has been established using Kentucky Hwy. 397 and Hwy. 30. The road is expected to be closed through the middle of the week until the slide can be removed, weather permitting.

“Motorists are reminded that driving past a road closure barricade is a violation of state law,” officials said Monday in a transportation alert message. “Violators are subject to a punishment of a $100 fine for a first offense, and fines of up to $500 and/or 30 days in jail.”
