Governor makes appointments to boards and commissions

FRANKFORT, Ky. (Aug. 2, 2013) – Gov. Steve Beshear has made the following appointments to Kentucky boards and commissions:

Gov. Beshear has appointed the following members to the Education Professional Standards Board:

  • boards and commissionsDavid C. Whaley, of Murray, is dean of the college of education at Murray State University. He represents postsecondary education. The appointment replaces Cathy L. Gunn, who has resigned. Whaley shall serve for the remainder of the unexpired term ending Sept. 18, 2013.
  • Laura Lee Schneider, of Walton, is a high school teacher for the Kenton County School District. She represents secondary school teachers. The appointment replaces Thomas J. Stull, who has resigned. Schneider shall serve for the remainder of the unexpired term ending Sept. 18, 2015.
  • Mary John O’Hair, of Lexington, is dean of the college of education at the University of Kentucky. She represents deans of colleges. The appointment replaces Michael M. Wasicsko, who has resigned. O’Hair shall serve for the remainder of the unexpired term ending June 7, 2016.

Gov. Beshear has appointed Keith D. Graves as city commissioner for the City of Brodhead to serve in accordance with the provisions of Section 152 of the Kentucky Constitution.

  • Keith D. Graves, of Brodhead, is a junior ROTC instructor for the Rockcastle County Board of Education.

Gov. Beshear has appointed the following members to the Hart-Supported Living Council to serve for terms expiring July 14, 2016:

  • Cindy M. Whitehouse, of Lexington, is a registered nurse and certified case manager, and is CEO and managing partner at Ascential Care Partners LLC. She represents members at large. The appointment replaces Paulette L. Logsdon, whose term has expired.
  • Shari W. Randle, of Versailles, is division director of the Office of Administrative and Technology Services for the Commonwealth of Kentucky. She represents family members of a person with a disability. The appointment replaces Toni Reiss, whose term has expired.

Gov. Beshear has reappointed Jason P. Jones as a member of the council to serve for a term expiring July 14, 2016, representing members at large.

  • Jason P. Jones, of Lexington, is director of community relations for the Office of Vocational Rehabilitation.

Gov. Beshear has appointed Lora L. Arnold to the Kentucky Board of Licensure and Certification for Dietitians and Nutritionists to serve for the remainder of the unexpired term ending July 15, 2016.

  • Lora L. Arnold, of Red Fox, is a corporate dietitian at Management Advisors. She represents licensed dietitians. The appointment replaces Carolyn S. Breeding, who has resigned.

Gov. Beshear has reappointed the following members to the board to serve for terms expiring July 15, 2017:

  • Jean H. Jones, of Morehead, is a registered dietitian at St. Claire Regional Medical Center. She represents licensed dietetic educators.
  • Ava H. Eaves, of Richmond, is a dietitian at Baptist Health. She represents certified nutritionists of state or local nutrition programs or private practice.

Gov. Beshear has reappointed the following members to the Agricultural Development Board to serve for terms expiring July 6, 2017:

  • Samuel E. Moore, of Morgantown, is a farmer. He represents the Kentucky Farm Bureau.
  • Betty B. Bailey, of Owingsville, is a farmer. She represents active farmers.

Gov. Beshear has appointed William J. “Jeff” Bechtold to the Kentucky Single Family Dwellings Advisory Committee to serve for a term expiring June 30, 2016.

  • William J. “Jeff” Bechtold, of Covington, is a buildings plan examiner for the Northern Kentucky Area Planning Commission. He represents the Code Administrators Association of Kentucky. The appointment replaces James L. Burgess, whose term has expired.

Gov. Beshear has reappointed the following members to the committee to serve for terms expiring June 30, 2016:

  • Krisia M. Rosa, of Lexington, is an architect at Pohl Rosa Pohl. She represents the Kentucky Chapter of the American Society of Architects.
  • Jeff Baird, of Danville, is a home builder. He represents the Kentucky Home Builders Association.

Gov. Beshear has appointed Daniel Leland Diamond to the Kentucky Film Commission to serve for the remainder of the unexpired term ending Sept. 30, 2014.

  • Daniel Leland Diamond, of Frankfort, is a feature film producer at QED Holdings LLC. The appointment replaces Lois Mateus, who has resigned.

Gov. Beshear has appointed Gregory A. Luhan to the High Performance Buildings Advisory Committee to serve for the remainder of the unexpired term ending Aug. 22, 2014.

  • Gregory A. Luhan, of Lexington, is an architecture professor at the University of Kentucky. He represents the University of Kentucky College of Design. The appointment replaces Michael A. Speaks, who has resigned.

Gov. Beshear has appointed Sandra W. Parks to the Kentucky Board of Licensed Professional Counselors to serve for the remainder of the unexpired term ending Sept. 23, 2015.

  • Sandra W. Parks, of Murray, is a retired educator. She represents citizens at large. The appointment replaces Betty A. Brockway, who has resigned.

Gov. Beshear has reappointed James R. Angel as a member of the Fish and Wildlife Resources Commission to serve for a term expiring Aug. 13, 2017.

  • James R. Angel, of Lebanon, is a physician. He represents the 4th Fish and Wildlife District. This order is effective Aug. 14, 2013.

Gov. Beshear has appointed the following members of the Kentucky Council on Postsecondary Education:

  • Robert H. Staat, of Goshen, is a professor at the University of Louisville School of Dentistry. He shall serve for a term expiring June 30, 2017. He represents faculty members from a state institution of postsecondary education. The appointment replaces Nancy J. McKenney, whose term has expired.
  • Glenn L. Means III, of Mount Sterling, is a graduate student. He shall serve for a term expiring June 30, 2014. He represents students.

Gov. Beshear has reappointed the following members to the Historic Properties Advisory Commission, to serve for terms expiring Aug. 11, 2016:

  • Estill Curtis Pennington, of Paris, is an art historian.
  • Marion Cecil Forcht, of Corbin, is an insurance agent with Forcht Insurance Agency.
  • Genevieve B. Lacer, of Simpsonville, is an author.

Gov. Beshear has reappointed William L. Crist Sr. as a member of the Kentucky Milk Commission to serve for a term expiring Aug. 1, 2017.

  • William L. Crist, of Lexington is a milk producer. He represents milk producers.
