XPO Logistics to expand in Louisville, create 120 jobs

New logistics center is the latest expansion for XPO’s growing network

FRANKFORT, Ky. (Nov. 1, 2013) – XPO Logistics Inc., one of the fastest growing providers of transportation logistics services in North America, will expand its Louisville footprint. The company is establishing a new logistics center, to be located on South Fourth Street, that will result in 120 new jobs and a nearly $2.7 million investment in the commonwealth.

“This is indeed a great day for Kentucky and our Louisville area workforce, as XPO Logistics plans to add 120 new jobs with the establishment of its new logistics center,” said Gov. Steve Beshear. “Transportation-related companies like XPO Logistics have found that Kentucky offers the business-friendly environment and talent pool needed to provide customers with exceptional service and support. I extend my congratulations to all involved for making this job growth possible.”

Tracing its roots back to 1989, XPO Logistics has more than quadrupled the size of its business in the last two years. The company offers truckload and less-than-truckload brokerage, last-mile logistics, ground/air expedited transportation, and freight forwarding services to more than 8,600 customers in the manufacturing, industrial, retail, food and beverage, commercial, life sciences and government sectors. XPO Logistics has operations in 89 locations in the United States and Canada.

XPO Logistics is relatively new to the Louisville area, having acquired a small logistics operation here earlier this year. The company currently employs 14 people in that facility.

“We’re extremely pleased that the state of Kentucky has been so supportive of our plans to expand in the commonwealth,” said Sean Fernandez, chief operating officer of XPO Logistics. “The Greater Louisville operation is an important milestone in the rapid growth of our customer service network. We expect to start hiring in sales and operations functions immediately.”

“It is exciting to welcome XPO Logistics to downtown Louisville as they become a part of our fast growing logistics and distribution sector,” said Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer. “The 120 jobs and more than $5 million payroll they bring with them provides just the kind of opportunities we are working diligently to make available to our talented workforce. XPO’s demonstrated confidence in our community is a testament to the depth of our business resources and the quality of life we enjoy here in the region.”
