Keeneland catalogues 161 two-year-olds for 2012 April Sale

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Feb. 29, 2012) – Keeneland officials announced this week that 161 juveniles have been cataloged for its 20thannual April Two-Year-Olds in Training Sale, to be held Monday, April 9, at 4 p.m. ET. A Preview Show is scheduled for Thursday, April 5, starting at 10:30 a.m.
The interactive April Sale catalog can be accessed online at www.keeneland.com beginning Tuesday, March 6.  Print catalogs will be mailed the week of March 19.
The April Sale has produced five classic winners in its brief history, led by 2009 graduate Lookin At Lucky, winner of five Grade 1 stakes, including the 2010 Preakness (G1), and one of only five colts in racing history to be named champion at both two and three.
Other classic-winning April Sale alumni are Kentucky Derby (G1) and Preakness winner Big Brown; Kentucky Derby and Belmont (G1) winner Thunder Gulch; and Kentucky Oaks (G1) winners Keeper Hill and Gal in a Ruckus.
“The April Sale boasts a historically strong graduate record, and that speaks to the top-quality individuals offered,” said Keeneland Vice President of Sales Walt Robertson. “We are very proud of our classic horses. They are among the more than 100 graded stakes-winning alumni, highlighted recently by such standouts as Wilburn, Haynesfield and Jersey Town, as well as three-year-old West Coast stakes winner Midnight Transfer.”
Many of the world’s most fashionable sires are among the 75 stallions represented by April Sale juveniles, including A.P.
