UofL Physicians in top 10 health care stories of 2012; leaders named People to Watch

Partners in Health Care publication recognizes Bukosky and Postel

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (March 2, 2012) — The integration of the previously independent University of Louisville School of Medicine physician practice groups into University of Louisville Physicians (ULP) was named a top 10 health care story in last week’s Partners in Health Care, a publication of Business First newspaper. In addition, ULP CEO Michael W. Bukosky and ULP board chairman Gregory Postel, M.D., were named “People to Watch.”

In its seventh year, the Partners in Health Care publication recognizes the movers and shakers in the local health care industry. It features what the editors identify as the top 10 health care stories of the year, highlighting businesses that play an integral part in the industry. As a top 10 story, ULP is recognized for its bold merger of the clinical practices of about 600 doctors, who all teach and conduct research at the UofL School of Medicine. The special section also features 29 “People to Watch,” an elite group of new and influential health care leaders; and 156 “Partners,” health care professionals who continue to make a significant impact on the local health care landscape.

Bukosky was honored for his leadership during ULP’s integration of 27 physician practices into a unified, collaborative and effective faculty practice group. Postel was acknowledged for his role as chairman of the board of directors for this new organization, providing leadership in strategy across all operations, as well as his position of Chairman of Radiology at the UofL School of Medicine.

University of Louisville Physicians is the largest, multi-specialty physician practice in Louisville with more than 78 sub specialties, 1,200 dedicated staff professionals and more than 600 primary care and specialty physicians.
