Kentucky School Board Association announces support for Kentucky Wins!

KSBA endorse statewide referendum on expanded gaming

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (Nov. 20, 2013) — The Kentucky School Board Association (KSBA) announced its support today of Kentucky Wins!, a movement focused on bringing job creation and economic growth to Kentucky by letting citizens decide whether expanded gaming should be permitted in the commonwealth.

KYWINS-GreenKSBA is the leading advocate and resource for public schools boards across Kentucky. The mission of the organization seeks to enhance school board leadership with strong communities and support systems that in turn grow student achievement.

The KSBA’s Board of Directors consists of 27 local school board members.

“Everyone agrees that our students and teachers need additional funding to keep classroom learning moving forward. That’s why our board of directors has, for several years, supported legislation to put the issue of gaming on the ballot for Kentucky voters,” said KSBA Interim Executive Director David Baird.

A recent study estimates that within the first three years of passing, expanded gaming will bring billions of dollars in revenue to Kentucky and 10,000 new jobs, according to a Kentucky Wins! press release.

In addition to KSBA’s announcement, last week, the Northern Kentucky Chamber of Commerce voiced their support for expanded gaming.
