Lexington metro area moves up 93 spots on Best-Performing Cities Index

Louisville ranked No. 58 on list

may-2010-fl-lexingtonLEXINGTON, Ky. (Dec. 16, 2013) — The Lexington metropolitan statistical area (MSA) moved up 93 spots on the Best-Performing Cities Index.

The index, conducted by The Milken Institute, ranks U.S. metropolitan areas by how well they are creating and sustaining jobs and economic growth. The components include job, wage and salary, and technology growth.

The Lexington MSA moved to No. 44 on the list of large cities, which was the second-largest increase on this year’s list, according to Commerce Lexington. The region was No. 9 overall in job growth from May 2012 to May 2013. (The Hagerstown-Martinsburg, Md., W.Va., region moved up 100 spots on the list.)

The Louisville-Jefferson County MSA was ranked No. 58; the Cincinnati region was No. 113; the Evansville, Ind., region was ranked No. 166; and the Huntington-Ashland region was No. 189.
