IdeaFestival, GE offering workshop on design-centered manufacturing

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (March 14, 2012) — IdeaFestival University is partnering with GE Appliance Park to offer a unique workshop on design centered innovation and manufacturing. The event takes place on Saturday, March 31, at the GE Appliance Park in Louisville.

Discover how GE Appliances integrates industrial design and consumer-centered research as a strategic competitive edge in Part III of Kentucky’s Design Centered Manufacturing Series. Profitable companies create distinctive products utilizing customer insight, design and innovation to build brand loyalty and a great user experience. Explore the design process from concept, user research and prototype to the factory floor.

What role does design centered innovation and manufacturing play in enhancing a company’s continued success and in driving Kentucky’s vibrant new economy?

As part of the workshop, you will meet and interact with GE Appliance Park design team members and tour GE’s design studio, Studio U (human performance metrics) user-experience research lab and GE Appliances Product Showroom, culminating with a view inside GE’s innovative product development production environment.

Arrive at least 15 minutes early to check/sign-in at GE’s Visitor’s Center. We will be touring a manufacturing facility: closed-toe shoes are required. Please dress comfortably as there will be a moderate walk between facilities.

The workshop will conclude with a catered lunch and discussion on design centered manufacturing.

This workshop is intended for people who lead design centered manufacturing initiatives; manufacturers, educators, economic development professionals and other key influencers/experts in the field.

The event is limited to 35 attendees.
