April 28 St. Elizabeth event raises funds for kids grief support service

EDGEWOOD, Ky. (March 14, 2012) — For more than 15 years, the St. Elizabeth Hospice STARS program has provided free grief support services for hundreds of local children who have lost loved ones. Now this critical community service needs your support, and we’re offering a great fun way for you to give it.

On Saturday, April 28, participants in the Strides for STARS 5K Walk and Run can get in a little exercise and a lot of fun, while raising much-needed funds to support the STARS program. The event starts at 9 a.m. at Dixie Heights High School in Crestview Hills and is open to both team and individual participants. Lisa Cooney, Anchor News 5 Today will serve as event emcee.

All proceeds from the event will go to support the STARS program. The free service, facilitated by St. Elizabeth Hospice, helps children and their caregivers grow stronger through their grief journey rather than be overwhelmed by it after someone they love dies.

STARS is open to school age children and their caregivers with sessions held throughout the school year. A STARS day camp is offered during the summer months. Consultations for service are also available for the community.
