2014 Natural Bridge Trail Trek series announced

SLADE, Ky. (Feb. 12, 2014)  — Discover the beauty of Natural Bridge State Resort Park on one or more naturalist-led guided hikes in the 2014 Natural Bridge Trail Trek Series that starts Saturday, March 22.

Each trek in the series will be different, and all will include hiking over moderate to difficult terrain. Complete all five guided hikes (over 25 miles) in this series and you will have hiked all of the trails at Natural Bridge State Resort Park. Those who complete all five treks will receive a Natural Bridge T-shirt and will have truly experienced the rugged cliff line, rock shelters, arches, plants, and animals at the park.

Meet at the Hemlock Lodge lobby at 9 a.m. for each trek. The first four treks in the series will last approximately three to five hours and the last (Nov. 8) trek will last approximately five to seven hours.

The fee for each trek is $8 per person. Children ages 10 to 17 must be accompanied by an adult. The minimum age is 10 years old. Payment is due upon arrival. Space is limited and preregistration is required. Participants need to dress for the weather and bring plenty of water, snacks, and a lunch if desired. Call 1-800-325-1710.

Here is the schedule of Saturday treks and approximate mileages for each:

March 22 Trek: 4 miles

April 26 Trek: 4 miles

June 7 Trek: 4 miles

Sept. 27 Trek: 5 miles

Nov. 8 Trek: 8 miles
