For Alltech’s 2nd Annual Career Development Program
LEXINGTON, Ky. (Feb. 19, 2014) — They’ve come from places as far away as Kazakhstan, Peru and Australia, and from cities as close as Versailles, Ky. They’ve worked in organizations as varied as the Spanish Army Veterinary Military Centre, Let’s Talk Science outreach group, and the Brazilian Jockey Club. Alltech’s 2014 Career Development Program (CDP) members are a prestigious group of 15 recent graduates from across the world, including the United States, Canada, Peru, Brazil, Ecuador, Australia, India, China, Kazakhstan, Spain and Ireland, that beat out more than 1,500 applicants for their spots.
The program, now in its second year, is designed to to recruit the future leaders of global agribusiness and kicked off with an intensive orientation and training period at Alltech’s Global Headquarters in Nicholasville, Kentucky last week. Training continues this week in Lexington for the 12-month, salaried program.
“As a proud Kentuckian, I have witnessed firsthand the explosive growth Alltech has experienced over the last 10 years and I feel very honored to represent Alltech’s strong Kentucky tradition in the 2014 class and into the future,” said Corey Johnson of Versailles, Ky., the only Kentuckian and the only American in the diverse group. “I am very excited to begin my career with such a dynamic and global company and I look forward to exploring all the opportunities it has to offer, both in the Bluegrass and beyond.”
The Career Development Program is directed by Dr. Aoife Lyons, a licensed clinical psychologist. She has conducted psychometric testing worldwide for hiring and training at Alltech for the past 10 years. Dr. Aoife Lyons is the daughter of Dr. Pearse Lyons, founder and president of Alltech, and incidentally, the person for whom Alltech is named. Her initials, A-L-L for Aoife Louise Lyons, spell out the first part of the Alltech name, with “tech” standing for “technology.”
“Here at Alltech’s Global Headquarters, we have 15 of the most eager and talented young people in the world, soaking up the training and knowledge they need to succeed in an international business,” said Dr. Aoife Lyons. “Last year’s recent graduates proved the value of this program, with many of these Career Development Program participants now in key roles at Alltech across the world, woven into the fabric of this company.”
The Career Development Program will offer its members the opportunity to work on projects in research, information systems, marketing, sales, finance, operations, regulatory and more. These will be integral in supporting Alltech’s business in animal health, crop science, algae, aquaculture, life sciences and the beverage industry.
Following this, CDP members will be assigned to one of Alltech’s 128 international offices. There, they will spend their time working on in-depth projects, learning how a global market leader operates. On completion of the program, participants will be ready to play a key role in their field of expertise and passion, share their acquired knowledge and take on even greater responsibilities.
