Bluegrass Alliance for Women scholarship nominations extended

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Feb. 25, 2014) — In 2007, Bluegrass Alliance for Women (BAW) began celebrating Women’s History Month while recognizing and honoring women in the Bluegrass Area Development District (BGADD) its annual luncheon. BAW Impact Awards are presented annually to one nominee from each of the 17 BGADD counties who have made a strong commitment to empowering and improving the lives of women and girls.

From the Impact winners, one outstanding woman is selected to receive the annual Legacy Award. To date, Bluegrass Alliance for Women has honored and recognized 111 nominated women, presented 50 Impact Awards and seven Legacy Awards to women throughout the BGADD. The counties included in the BGADD are Anderson, Bourbon, Boyle, Clark, Estill, Fayette, Franklin, Garrard, Harrison, Jessamine, Lincoln, Madison, Mercer, Nicholas, Powell, Scott and Woodford.

In 2010, in an effort to further strengthen a commitment to education, Bluegrass Alliance for Women began awarding BAW Legacy of Leadership Scholarships. Since 2010, nine scholarships have been presented to students from BGADD counties.
