Commerce Lexington is organizing trip to Dubai, Abu Dhabi in October

LEXINGTON, Ky. (March 12, 2014)Commerce Lexington Inc. today announced the next in its annual international travel series trips will be to Dubai and Abu Dhabi next October. The weeklong visit will include a meeting with the Dubai Chamber of Commerce, with Dubai business men doing business in Kentucky and visit to the Arab nation’s Thoroughbred racing facilities.

The cost is $3,599 per person to participate.

The international travel opportunity is available for Commerce Lexington members and the general public. Over the past few years, Commerce Lexington has led groups to China, Cuba, and Vietnam and Cambodia.

Commerce Lexington Inc. is partnering with Central Holidays for a nine-day trip to Dubai, which departs from New York on Oct. 18, 2014. It describes the destination as an intriguing land that combines old-world souks and modern shopping malls, rolling sand dunes and championship grass golf courses, remote Bedouin villages and an array of five-star hotels. The Burj Khalifa multi use building in Dubai is the tallest in the world at 2,717 feet.

Some of the highlights of the trip include a visit to the Jumeirah Mosque, Dubai Museum, a drive through the sand dunes of the desert with a stop at a camp to enjoy food and entertainment, a full-day tour of Abu Dhabi – the capital of the United Arab Emirates, and a half-day tour of Sharjah – the “Pearl of the Gulf.”  The itinerary also includes a half day dedicated to exploring the connections between Central Kentucky and Dubai, including a meeting at the Dubai Chamber of Commerce, a look at the Dubai Thoroughbred racing tradition, and a visit with representatives of Dubai businesses with Kentucky connections.

Dubai’s monarch, Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, has many Kentucky business ties, especially with the horse racing sector. Among his holdings are Fasig-Tipton, the Thoroughbred sales operation, and Darley, a global racing and breeding operation based at Jonabell Farm near Lexington.

Lynda Bebrowsky, Commerce Lexington’s senior vice president of marketing and member services, said, “We have found that our participants really appreciate the opportunity to travel with people they know, through an organization they trust, to such unusual locations. We are so excited that we’ll be able to continue our tradition of offering these trips at affordable prices to places that many people only dream of visiting.”

The cost to participate in the trip, which is dubbed Wonders Of Dubai, is $3,599 per person (double occupancy), which includes hotels, meals, day trips, and airfare from New York.
