LG&E and KU Foundation Inc. gives $50,000 to support Kentucky’s storm-relief efforts

Donation will assist the American Red Cross following March 2 tornadoes

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (March 21, 2012) – The LG&E and KU Foundation Inc. has donated $50,000 to the American Red Cross to support ongoing tornado-relief efforts in Kentucky.

“We realize the March 2 storms disrupted lives throughout our service territories, and we want to help storm victims to rebuild their lives as quickly as possible,” said Laura Douglas, vice president of Corporate Responsibility and Community Affairs for LG&E and KU.

Company employees across the service territories have been individually contributing to the Red Cross, United Way and other organizations working on relief efforts by providing food, water, clothing, blankets and a variety of items to fulfill basic needs.

During the restoration effort directly following the storms, LG&E and KU released Kentucky-based contract crews to assist neighboring co-ops and utilities in the hardest-hit areas of Kentucky and Southern Indiana.
