Honored for historic preservation
PERRYVILLE, Ky. (June 30, 2014) — Main Street Perryville has been designated as an accredited National Main Street program for meeting the commercial district revitalization performance standards set by the National Main Street Center, a subsidiary of the National Trust for Historic Preservation.
Programs are recognized for their exemplary commitment to historic preservation and community revitalization through the Main Street Four Point Approach.
Programs are rated on 10 performance standards and evaluation criteria determines the communities that are building comprehensive and sustainable revitalization efforts and include standards such fostering strong public-private partnerships, securing an operating budget, tracking programmatic progress and actively preserving historic buildings.
The Mission of Perryville’s program is to stimulate the economic growth of the downtown business district, while preserving and protecting the historic integrity of the Perryville community. Main Street Perryville is a leader in developing and maintaining the historic community as a regional center for better commerce, tourism, education, health, historic preservation and quality of life.
