Baptist Health Louisville, St. Elizabeth Edgewood tied for second

Washington, D.C. (July 15, 2014) — Baptist Health Hospital Lexington earned the top spot in Kentucky as the best hospital for 2014-15 according to U.S. News & World Report.

Baptist Health Louisville was and St. Elizabeth Edgewood tied for second, with Baptist Health ranked No. 1 in the Louisville metro area and St. Elizabeth fifth in the Cincinnati metro area.

U.S. News evaluates hospitals in 16 adult specialties. In most specialties, it ranks the nation’s top 50 hospitals and recognizes other high-performing hospitals that provide care at nearly the level of their nationally ranked peers.

Baptist Health Lexington ranked in 10 medical specialties: diabetes and endocrinology; ear, nose and throat; gastroenterology and GI surgery; geriatrics; gynecology; kidney disorders; neurology and neurosurgery; orthopedics, pulmonary and urology.

Baptist Health Louisville ranked in nine medical specialties: diabetes and endocrinology; ear, nose and throat; gastroenterology and GI surgery; geriatrics; gynecology; kidney disorders; orthopedics; pulmonary and urology.

St. Elizabeth Edgewood ranked in nine medical specialties: diabetes and endocrinology; gastroenterology and GI surgery; geriatrics; gynecology; nephrology; neurology and neurosurgery; orthopedics; pulmonary and urology.

University of Kentucky Albert B. Chandler Hospital was ranked fourth, earning high rankings in seven categories, Norton Hospital in Louisville was fifth earning high rankings in three categories, Jewish Hospital of Louisville was ranked sixth with two rankings, and King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, St. Elizabeth Florence and University of Louisville Hospital each ranked in one category.
