Partnership allows Citi employees to earn MBA at Thomas More College

12 Florence employees started classes last week

FLORENCE, Ky. (July 17, 2014) — A partnership with Thomas More College now gives local Citi Consumer Banking Operations Site employees the opportunity to take classes on-site, as well as offering scholarship opportunities.

Twelve employees at the site on Houston Road in Florence have taken advantage of the program, starting MBA classes last week.

“This partnership is an example of our goal to provide strong academic programs that meet area workforce need, plus assist the business community in attracting and retaining top talent,” said Judy Bautista, Senior Enrollment Manger of the Accelerated and Professional Programs at Thomas More College (TAP). “We collaborate with area companies and our alumni are employed in a wide range of occupational sectors that include: marketing, human services, manufacturing, engineering, information technology, government, banking and financial services.”

The business and accounting programs at Thomas More College were recently accredited through The Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs, which is an accreditation above and beyond Thomas More’s regional accreditation from Southern Association of College and Schools (SACS). Unlike other institutions, the ACBSP separately and fully accredited the accountancy program separately from the business program. Many business programs and accountancy programs in the United States are not professionally accredited.

Thomas More College introduced an accelerated Bachelor of Business Administration degree for working professionals in 1993. TAP’s innovative “cohort” teaching model (the first of its kind in the tri-state area) grouped adults into learning teams to better share their experiences and develop the essential leadership and business skills needed to be competitive in the global marketplace. Today, TAP degree options range from associate’s and bachelor’s degrees in management and business administration to MBA programs in business and health care. Starting in August, an online MBA program will be available.

Citi currently offers eligible employees $3,000 annually for tuition reimbursement. Citi’s Florence site employs approximately 2,300 in jobs supporting the company’s credit card, mortgage and retail banking businesses.
