Three Kentucky colleges recognized for being great places to work

(July 22, 2014) — Eastern Kentucky University, Murray State University and Somerset Community College are the best colleges to work for in the state of Kentucky, according to a survey by The Chronicle of Higher Learning. Overall, 92 colleges and universities were named to the list, which is culled from schools that chose to participate in the program.

The survey judges colleges based on 12 categories — Collaborative Government; Compensation and Benefits; Confidence in Senior Leadership; Diversity; Facilities, Workspace & Security; Job Satisfaction; Professional/Career-Development Programs; Respect and Appreciation; Supervisor or Department-Chair Relationship; Teaching Environment; Tenure Clarity and Process; Work/Life Balance.

Somerset Community College was recognized in nine categories: Compensation and Benefits; Confidence in Senior Leadership; Facilities, Workspace & Security; Job Satisfaction; Professional/Career-Development Programs; Respect and Appreciation; Supervisor or Department-Chair Relationship; Teaching Environment; Work/Life Balance

EKU was recognized for Work/Life Balance and Murray State for Teaching Environment.
