LOUISVILLE, Ky. (March 29, 2012) — Greater Louisville International Professionals an arm of Greater Louisville Inc., Los Monitos Language Center, Asia Institute – Crane House, Jefferson County Public Schools (JCPS)  and Bellarmine University announce World Campus Day, the culminating event of the yearlong Amazing Global Marketplace™, a new international culture and business program that introduces high school students to the world of international business.

Amazing Global Marketplace™ is an experiential, educational and competitive program that provides students, working with mentors and local corporate sponsors, to engage in simulated international business scenarios. The program exposes students to international culture and business practices, while encouraging them to think globally and develop fundamental business skills.   Since its inception on October 22, 2011, students were paired with mentors from six global companies, including KFC Yum!, Papa John’s International, Flavorman, Sud-Chemie, Glowtouch Technologies, and Linak US and learned the skill set to interview with international professionals,  global supply chain, tour companies and hear from marketing and human resources tips, cultural norms of at least two foreign countries.

Six classes from Seneca, Eastern, and Atherton high schools will send four of their students to participate in the half day Amazing Global Marketplace World Campus event, to be hosted this year on Wednesday, April 4, 2012 on the campus of Bellarmine University.  Students, working in teams, will research, discuss and act on international business scenarios. Various locations on the Bellarmine campus will be transformed into ‘global company headquarters” in six different countries, staffed by natives of each location.

Of the program, Diane MacKenzie with JCPS International Studies said, “AGM has been an amazing instructional experience for teachers and students. It has brought the academic content alive. Students have been able to apply their knowledge to real live examples. Students met an outstanding group of professionals during the AGM.”
