River Blast to raise awareness about importance of Kentucky River

RICHMOND, Ky. (Aug. 6, 2014) — The Kentucky River Water Trail Alliance will hold its River Blast on Aug. 16 at Fort Boonesborough State Park near Richmond.

Activities will be offered throughout the day and will include paddling races starting at 8 a.m., a car show, live music, educational exhibits, arts and crafts and food.  There will also be a fireworks show at dusk. The event is free; a donation of $5 per car is suggested. Most events will be from noon to 10 p.m.

The purpose of this first-year event is to raise awareness of the importance of the Kentucky River as a resource. Sponsors include the Kentucky Office of Adventure Tourism.
