Beatty is challenging Gray’s bid for a second term as elected leader of the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government. They will square off on the stage of Transylvania’s Carrick Theater at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 8.

“Transylvania, with its liberal arts tradition and mission of encouraging civic engagement, offers an appropriate urban setting for discussion of the issues and aspirations of a growing, progressive city,” said Transylvania President Seamus Carey.

The event is co-hosted by the Lexington Forum, a civic organization formed in 1983 to serve as a platform for open discussion of issues and trends of local interest.

“We view public debate as essential in helping voters determine whose policy positions and views best represent their own interests,” said Molly Sutherland, Lexington Forum board president.
