Has created 1,500 new jobs
SIMPSONVILLE, Ky. (Aug. 8, 2014) — The official opening of the Outlet Shoppes of the Bluegrass was July 31, drawing thousands of shoppers to the retail development located just off I-64 in Simpsonville.
Covering 366,750 square feet, the $80 million development — a project of Horizon Group Properties Inc. and CBL & Associates Properties Inc. — is 100 percent leased and features 120 popular retailers including Coach, Michael Kors, Banana Republic, Brooks Brothers, Under Armour, The North Face, Nike, Kate Spade, Oakley and Saks Fifth Avenue Off 5th. In addition, Gucci will be opening soon, making the Outlet Shoppes of the Bluegrass one of only seven retail centers in the nation to offer the designer store.
The development has created 1,500 new jobs and an estimated $30 million in payroll. During peak holiday times, employment will likely surge to 2,000 or more. It is estimated that the outlet will generate sales taxes of some $8 million for the commonwealth.
