As part of program to teach students importance of Thoroughbred industry to state economy
LEXINGTON, Ky. (Aug. 25, 2014) — About 2,500 fifth-graders from Fayette County Schools will descend upon Keeneland this week as part of a partnership between the two organizations designed to teach the history of the race track and the importance of the Thoroughbred industry in Kentucky’s economy.
Students will be greeted by Keeneland officials, watch a live Thoroughbred auction demonstration in the Sales Pavilion, and tour the track’s Grandstand, Paddock and trackside areas.
Keeneland will provide each student with a “Thoroughbred Racing and Sales” book, which can be used in the classroom following the field trips.
