statefairRain blamed for keeping people away

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (August 29, 2014) — Attendance at the Kentucky State Fair was down this year, with 515,937 visitors, compared to last year’s total of 615,648. Rain fell on eight of the 11 fair days.

Despite the drop in overall attendance, the World’s Championship Horse Show and the competitive entry departments had 58,449 entries, more than 1,500 more than last year.

The 11-day event generated approximately $16.5 million in economic impact across the community and Kentucky.

Next year’s Kentucky State Fair is scheduled from Aug. 20-30.
