Louisville collecting shoes at 5K to help WaterStep

Will help projects to save lives from waterborne illness

waterstepLOUISVILLE, Ky. (Aug. 28, 2014) — The Louisville Sports Commission and Louisville Water Company are working together to help WaterStep collect unwanted shoes. Donated shoes will be sold to help finance WaterStep’s water projects, which are focused on saving lives at risk from waterborne illness.

Walkers and runners participating in the Louisville pure tap 5K on Sept. 6 can donate shoes at the Louisville Water Tower during packet pick-up on Sept. 5 or on the day of the race.

The 5K is the first race of the Louisville Sports Commission Fall Runathon, a series of three fall running races. Other races are scheduled on Oct. 4 and Oct. 25.
