Gateway offering course on young adult mental health

Course is on Oct. 17

EDGEWOOD, Ky. (Oct. 7, 2014) — Gateway Community and Technical College is offering a course called “Mental Health Concerns of Young Adults.” The course, which is approved for continuing education by the Kentucky Board of Social Work, will take place from 9 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. on Oct. 17.

Gateway_Community_and_Technical_College3Course topics include: the prevalence of various mental health disorders among young people, warning signs of mental health problems and risk factors that affect a young person’s mental health and resiliency.

The course will teach participants how to create an action plan for mental health assessment, to select and implement appropriate interventions, to help youth connect with appropriate resources, and to identify community resources available to address mental health problems.

The cost is $45. The registration deadline is Oct. 14.
